Denzel Washington paid for my acting classes – Black Panther star


According to Black Panther star Chad Boseman, Hollywood star Denzel Washington paid for his acting classes while he was still a student at Oxford University.

Boseman said the tuition was paid via a scholarship program for a summer class he took in school.

Speaking on Jimmy Fallon’s show, Boseman said veteran Phylicia Rashad taught the acting class and  got some famous donors to help the college kids get overseas:

Prosecutor Maizan Sereme announced on Tuesday that two of the suspects are current soldiers. Another is a former soldier who was kicked out of the military after a 2011 mutiny.

Togo opposition announces resumption of protest demos


Togo’s opposition coalition on Tuesday said it would resume its protests against President Faure Gnassingbe and his government, despite both sides having agreed to a suspension during talks.

The grouping of 14 parties’ spokesperson, Eric Dupuy, told AFP: “We have decided to start our protests again for four days next week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.”

President Buhari to receive FIFA World Cup trophy on Wednesday


The original FIFA World Cup will arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday, the Nigeria Football Federation announced in a press release on Tuesday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has smashed a syndicate that specialises in diverting funds from the account of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.  The EFCC also grilled a JAMB official based in Makurdi, Philomina Chieshe, who claimed that a snake swallowed N36m which was part of the proceeds of the sale of scratch cards.
Detectives at the commission said Chieshe revealed that the money was collected in instalments from her by her Coordinator, Samuel Umoru. In one of the statements she volunteered to the EFCC, Chieshe who is a clerk in the Makurdi office of JAMB, was said to have revealed that the coordinator usually asked her to withdraw proceeds of the sale of the cards from her account in two banks.

Myanmar is continuing its “ethnic cleansing” of Rohingya Muslims while claiming it is ready to receive them back from Bangladesh, according to a UN human rights envoy.

NNPC cuts down crude production cost to $20/barrel


The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Monday announced that it had been able to reduce the cost of producing a barrel of crude oil to $20.

According to the corporation, additional measures have been put in place to further reduce the cost to $15 per barrel.
