Police arrest alleged Badoo cult leader Alese


The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday made a major breakthrough in the fight against the menace of Badoo cult with the arrest of the group’s herbalist, Fatai Adebayo, alias Alese.

The notorious activities of the dreaded cult group prevalent in Ikorodu and Epe axis of the State had sent many of the victims to their early graves with cruel killings through the smashing of mortar and pestle on victims’ heads.

Borno reviews curfew in Maiduguri


The Borno State Government has reviewed the curfew in Maiduguri metropolis from 8pm to 6am as against the existing 10pm to 6am.

Dr Mohammed Bulama, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Maiduguri.

Police arrest notorious highway robbers in Ogun


Four members of a highway robbery gang at Odogbolu junction along Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Epressway have been arrested by the Ogun State Police command.

The suspects identified as Israel Adams, Opeyemi Okegbenro, Ali Chibike, and Patrick Nwandagba were arrested at about 11:30 pm on Thursday.

Governor Wike places N200m bounty on perpetrators of Omoku massacre


Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has placed a N200million bounty for information that will lead to the arrest of the gunmen who killed at least 14 churchgoers returning from a midnight service on Monday in Omoku.

The gunmen had opened fire on a set of worshippers at about 12:30 am on Monday,” said Ugochi Olugbo, a relative of one of the victims who were attending a New Year’s Eve service.

Tanker driver docked over alleged fraud


The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 52-year-old tanker driver, Oladiti Lukman, in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly obtaining N400, 000 under false pretence.

Lukman, a resident of Ilekun Ayo Seeni village, Apata, Ibadan, was arraigned on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

Man allegedly kills friend over quarrel with wife


Tragedy struck in Ijegun suburb of Lagos on New Year day as a father of five, Olayiwola Stephen, 39, was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend and co-tenant, Ibrahim Adetunji, during a quarrel.

A witness, Ademola Adegbola, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that a quarrel started between the two friends when the victim was trying to broker peace between Mr. Adetunji’s wife and other tenants in the building.

20,210 Babies Born In Nigeria On January 1 – UNICEF


Nigeria would have approximately 20,210 babies born into the country on New Year day, the UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF, said. This represents the third largest population of newborns in the world on January 1, 2018.

UNICEF also said nearly 386,000 babies would be born worldwide on New Year day.

The agency reported that Kiribati’s Christmas Island in the Pacific would most likely welcome 2018’s first baby while the U.S., its last.

Nigeria loses N260b through exchange of crude oil with petroleum products


The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) 2015 Oil and Gas Industry Audit Report, showed that the country recorded a net loss of $723 million (N260 billion) from getting refined products through Offshore Processing Arrangement (OPA) in 2015.

Besides, the agency said that sum of N317 billion which is the value of crude allocated for domestic consumption by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was yet to be reconciled.
