Additional remains of slain US soldier found in Niger

Additional remains of a U.S. soldier killed in Niger in October have been recovered, the Pentagon said on Tuesday, raising fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding Sgt. La-David Johnson’s death.

A military investigation team discovered the remains on November 12 as part of a probe into the October 4 attack that resulted in the deaths of Mr. Johnson and three other soldiers, spokeswoman, Dana White, said.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said Robert Mugabe’s resignation on Tuesday gave Zimbabwe “an opportunity to forge a new path free of the oppression that characterised his rule,” and declared Britain stood ready to help.

“In recent days we have seen the desire of the Zimbabwean people for free and fair elections and the opportunity to rebuild the country’s economy under a legitimate government,” she said in a statement.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has obtained CCTV footage showing the last moments of Bilyaminu Bello, the son of a former Peoples Democratic Party chairman who was allegedly killed by his wife, Maryam Sanda.

Our correspondent had reported that Bello was stabbed to death by his wife over allegations of infidelity after she read a text message on his phone.
