A Jos Upper Area Court, sitting at Kasuwan Nama, on Tuesday sentenced a 35-year-old businessman, Hamza Abubakar, to three-year jail term for raping his nine-year-old daughter.

The judge, Mr. Yahaya Mohammed, convicted Abubakar, as he pleaded guilty to the three counts leveled against him.

Three unidentified individuals have stepped out to lay claim to the controversial N860 million benefit meant for the whistleblower that led the EFCC to the N13 billion found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos in April this year.

In a petition to the attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, three persons who claimed to have informed the EFCC of the money, alleged that the anti-graft agency is about to sideline them and give the benefit to someone else who they might have links to.

Diana Lovejoy, a 45-year-old woman who was convicted in a murder-for-hire plot against her ex-husband fainted in court just moments after her guilty verdict was read out.

According to Daily Mail UK, Diana Lovejoy, 45, was found guilty on Monday of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder over a September 2016 attack on her estranged husband Greg Mulvihill in Carlsbad, California.

Justice Mohammed Idris of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court on Tuesday refused an application by Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, to travel overseas for medical treatment.

In his ruling, Mr. Idris said the prosecution presented overwhelming evidence to show that Mr. Dudafa’s ailment could be treated within Nigeria.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is no stranger to using shell companies in offshore tax havens. The influential industrialist is one of the prominent figures around the world whose names popped up in the infamous #PanamaPapers database as having links with shell companies in notorious tax havens.

Documents from the leaked internal data of Panama-based offshore provider, Mossack Fonseca, had, in 2016, linked Mr Dangote, alongside his half-brother Sayyu Dantata, to at least 13 shell companies in Seychelles, a rising offshore tax haven.

A 51-year-old Nigerian woman, Jadesola Agbalade forwarded a child pornography clip which showed a child being raped, a Dublin court has heard.

She pleaded guilty to one count of knowingly distributing child pornography on July 20, 2016. Garda Enda Ledwith told Karl Finnegan BL, prosecuting, that he arrested a man in Dublin Airport in July 2017 in relation to credit card fraud.

A man would have been probably smiling to the bank had it not been for sharp passersby who spotted him while trying to hijacking a Mercedes Benz. A civil society organization, under the aegis of Forum for Good Governance and Probity (FGGP), has described the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, as one of the court jesters of the ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, says his men were not responsible for shooting of two female members of staff of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan.

Odude made the clarification in a telephone interview with newsmen in Ibadan.

The police chief spoke on the reports that policemen drafted to quell students’ protest at the Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Apata, Ibadan, shot two workers of the institute.
