No fewer than 200 youths have set ablaze the palace of the traditional ruler of Obollo autonomous community, Edwin Mbaeyi, in Isiala Mbano Local Government of Imo state.

Punch reports that an eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Collins, said that the palace was burnt over the refusal of the monarch to coronate one Chijioke Njokuocha as the traditional prime minister of the community after the death of his father, Samuel Njokuocha.

Jobless Man Sent To Prison For Stealing Wheel Barrow


It was double tragedy for a 26-year old jobless man, Mr John Chima who attempted to get engaged meaningfully by looking for work. It was gathered that the job he had wanted to engage himself in required a wheel barrow, so he stole one after he could not get assistance to buy.

The action has landed him in prison as Chima was caught with the fairly used wheelbarrow and was handed over to the police who arraigned him in court. The incident happened at Mechanic Village in Isolo where the suspect reportedly stole the item.

A driver working with the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Ejialu Peter, 33, who allegedly defiled an 11-year-old girl inside his vehicle, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Peter, who resides at No. 3, Agbado St., off Power Line, Ishaga, a Lagos suburb, is facing a charge of defilement.

A 26-year-old man, Oluwasegun Olayemi will spend the next 12 months in prison for stealing a laptop and phone valued N119,000, from a businesswoman in Lagos.

Olayemi of no fixed address, was convicted on Wednesday by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and burglary.

Egypt cuts military ties with North Korea


Egypt’s defense minister, on a visit to Seoul, announced that his country has cut military ties with North Korea, according to a report by South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Egyptian government of the agency’s report, but the move follows last month’s decision by the United States to cut or delay nearly $300m in aid over Egypt’s human rights record and ties with Pyongyang.

Nnamdi Kanu under house arrest – lawyer


Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says his client has been placed under house arrest by the Nigerian army.

Soldiers surrounded Kanu’s home in Umuahia, Abia state on Tuesday, two days after they had clashed with his supporters in the area.

In a statement issued shortly after the incident, Ejiofor said he got a distress call from Kanu but that he couldn’t confirm whether he is alive or dead.

Eze, 32, of Gwagwa by Tasha 1, Abuja, was convicted following his guilty plea to charges of attempting to commit an offence and escape from lawful custody.

According to Metro UK, the UK Police are now growing increasingly concerned for a woman who disappeared shortly after landing at Manchester Airport.

Louise Holohan has not been seen since she left the airport at 4pm on Friday and her disappearance is said to be entirely out of character.

It is thought she may have been headed for an address in Padiham but failed to turn up and has not been seen since.

Robbers kill Army captain, three others in Kaduna
