A man, said to be a pastor, Mr. Robert Gwegwe, has allegedly attacked the Secretary of the Civil Liberties Organisation, Bayelsa State chapter, Mr. Timi Igoli, by stabbing him in the eye.

The incident reportedly took place on May 29, 2017, at a mobile phone shop on Custom Road, Biogbolo area of Yenagoa metropolis.

An American, Marco Ramirez, who allegedly defrauded three Nigerians of $565,000 in an American Green Card scam was granted bail on Monday.

Ramirez was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 by an Ikeja High Court.
Ramirez was earlier remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons after his arraignment on June 22 over the alleged scam.

Nigerian actor,producer and director Funsho Adeolu is the latest celebrity to talk about the recent Badoo cult killings. The actor is said to have relocated to Ikorodu 12 years ago with his wife and two sons but since the inception of the Badoo terror group started, he always nursed fears about his family’s safety.

Venus Williams became the oldest woman to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 23 years when the 37-year-old beat Ana Konjuh in the fourth round on Monday.

Abu Dhabi’s Etisalat has terminated its management agreement with its Nigerian arm and given the business time to phase out the brand in Nigeria, the chief executive of Etisalat International told Reuters on Monday.

This is happening after Nigerian regulators intervened last week to save Etisalat Nigeria from collapse after talks with its lenders to renegotiate a $1.2 billion loan failed.

A 29-year-old trader, Ndubuisi Oni, who allegedly stabbed a co-tenant, one Joseph George, with a broken bottle on the stomach, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has donated money and equipment worth over N50m to victims of the March 8 clash between Hausa and Yoruba persons in Ile-Ife.

The Managing Director of Dangote Foundation, Mrs. Suera Yusuf, who represented Dangote said this during the presentation of cheques to the victims at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife.

Turkey issues arrest warrant for 72 university staff

Turkey on Monday issued arrest warrants for 72 university staff, including a former adviser to the main opposition leader, who staged a mass rally on Sunday.

Real Betis chairman, Angel Haro, has revealed that Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Dani Ceballos.

A 24-year-old man, Joseph Nwadinobi, has been arrested by the police for allegedly robbing two residents of Ajileye Street, in the Ijedodo area of Ijegun, Lagos State.

The suspect was also brought before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court by a police prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbbokhan, on four counts bordering on robbery, assault and rape.

He was accused of hypnotizing and having sexual intercourse with seven married women.

He was said to have lied to his victims that their husbands were wizards and members of the occult.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the dismissal of four police officers found guilty of extorting money from members of the police.

According to a statement released today by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit(PCRRU), Abayomi Shogunle, the affected police officers attached to the Ijebu-Ode area command in Ogun state are;

(1) AP. No 122800 Inspr. Mufutau Olaosun, (2) F/No. 366127 Sgt. Adebayo Temitope, (3) F/No. 455593 Cpl. Bakare Taiwo and (4) F/No. 455554 Cpl. Adesoye Ayokunlehin. They were charged, tried and found guilty in an Orderly Room conducted at the Area Command Headquarters, Ijebu-Ode for two offences against discipline as provided for in Paragraphs E (iii) Discreditable Conduct and C (ii) Corrupt Practice under the First Schedule of Police Act and Regulations Cap. P19. Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
