30 Private Jets Land in Minna for IBB's Daughter's Wedding


Twenty six private jets and four police and air force aircrafts landed in Minna on Friday for the wedding of former President Ibrahim Babangida’s daughter. The aircraft brought the various dignitaries that attended the event. The police also provided air surveillance and security.
 
Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience, Senate President Bukola Saraki and former vice president Namadi Sambo were at the wedding.

A 22-year-old unemployed woman, Tope Olanrewaju, who allegedly assaulted her friend by biting off her left ear, was on Friday granted N100,000 bail by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
 
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, who gave the ruling, also granted the accused one surety in like sum, who must be gainfully employed.
 
The accused, a resident of No. 4, Agbowa St., Ogijo near Ikorodu, Lagos State, had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and unlawfully inflicting wounds.

A renowned cleric, Shiek Nasiru Bazallah, has been arraigned by the Nigeria Police before a Kano Magistrate Court for allegedly insulting the Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, with the intent to provoke a breach of peace.

The prosecution alleged that the cleric incited disturbance and attempted to defame the character of the monarch, contrary to Section 114, 392 and 399 of the penal code.

According to People Magazine, Cindy Rueda says she was hired to work for Combs in 2015,  but was  “lured into a situation where she could be accused of theft and ultimately terminated” after complaining about the working conditions to Combs’ estate director Stacy Friend. Rueda was fired on May 8, 2016, and filed her lawsuit one year later.

An incestuous father, Folorunsho Oluwaseun, who allegedly turned his 17-year-old daughter into a sex object, was on Friday granted a reprieve by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Oluwaseun was released on N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.


The 51-year-old electrician, who resides at 40, Popoola St., Offin in Ikorodu, Lagos State, is facing a charge of rape.

Meningitis in record decline after 1,069 deaths


Four of the six states most affected in the outbreak of cerebrospinal meningitis have a drop in the number of cases reported for the first time, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said. 

In the two weeks leading up to May 9, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and Kebbi all recorded a drop in number of cases, NCDC said in its weekly epidemiology report.

Six persons – Semiu Noah, 22; Segun Fatoke, 19; Hammed Taiwo, 18; Adedayo Shittu, 20; Sodiq Gbadamosi, 18; and Raphael Akinshika,18 –accused of chopping off a man’s three fingers were on Thursday arraigned in Lagos.

The accused, all residents of Ewutuntun and Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, entered a `not guilty’ plea to the four charges of conspiracy, breach of peace, malicious damage and grievous harm.
