N-Power: Borno Governor Asks for 10,000 Extra Slots


The Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima  has appealed to the N-Power governing body to consider giving 10,000 extra slots to Borno State in light of the huge needs for the Book Haram-hit state to recover from the devastating effects of various acts of terrorism carried out in the state over the years. He also appealed that Yobe and Adamawa would get special consideration.

25-Yar Old Pleads Guilty TO Kidnap And Rape Of Physically Challenged Girl


25-year-old man, Sunday Aremu, who pleaded guilty to abducting a physically-challenged girl and raping her, on Monday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The accused, according to NAN, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, abduction and unlawful carnal knowledge.

The accused admitted the charge.

An Assistant Superintendent of Customs, identified as Christian has allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja. The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained.


The 44-year-old man, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday.

A trigger-happy Divisional Police Officer (DPO) on Sunday night shot dead a fashion designer, Jamiu Ayoade and injured two others.
The incident occurred at Ijeshatedo around 7pm.
It was gathered that the DPO shot Ayoade, who was at a friend’s (Abubakar Animashaun) birthday party with his lover, at close range.

Gunmen shoot Police area commander in Delta


Unknown gunmen on Sunday night reportedly attacked the Area Commander of the Ughelli Area Command of the Delta state police command, ACP Usman Ndanbabo, shooting him twice at close range.
Though reasons for the attack on the police chief could not be ascertained as at press time, The Nation recalls that crime rate within Ughelli town and its environs has been on the increase in the past couple of weeks with series of kidnappings and killings leading to regular patrols as well as stop and search operations by security operatives in the area.

Three arrested over attack on APC chieftain in Edo


Three suspected thugs have been arrested over Monday’s attack on a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and a former governorship aspirant in Edo State, Chief Blessing Agbomhere.
Agbomhere was beaten and bloodied in the mouth by over 30 thugs at the Benin Airport shortly after he arrived from Abuja.
Also attacked was a former governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Movement in Bayelsa State, Moses Siasia, who accompanied Agbomhere to Benin City.

A 23-year-old woman, Debbie Mike, who allegedly assaulted her ex-boyfriend with electrical iron, was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The jealous lover had assaulted, Lanre Adewole, her former boyfriend with the iron during a fight.
The accused is facing a charge of assault to which she has pleaded not guilty.

A gang of assailants, suspected to be ritual killers, has wreaked havoc on a family of six in Adeke bus stop, Adamo, Imota, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The couple – Taofiq Agbaje and Simiat Agbaje, 32, – and two of their four children, Rodiat, 10, and eight-year-old Toyeebat, were hacked to death by the gang.

Almost 200 people are feared to have died in two Mediterranean Sea migrant shipwrecks during the weekend, according to reports on Monday.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Libya said that seven people were rescued off the north-western city of Zawiya, and one of them said 113 others were missing.
The information was posted on Twitter and confirmed by an IOM Spokesman in Rome, Flavio Di Giacomo.
