Emma Morano, an Italian woman believed to have been the oldest person alive and the last survivor of the 19th century, died Saturday at the age of 117, Italian media reported.
Morano, born on November 29 1899, died at her home in Verbania, in northern Italy, the reports said.

Mr Mohammed Lawal Shehu, Convener of the Concerned Citizens of Northern Kaduna Senatorial District, has called on Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to save him from supporters of  Suleiman Hunkuyi, the senator representing the district. 
Mr. Shehu and members of his group recently initiated moves to have Mr. Hunkuyi recalled from the Senate. The group, made up of registered voters in the senatorial district, wrote to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) notifying it of their desire to recall Mr. Hunkuyi, who is alleged to have provided poor representation.   

Man arrested for beating and chaining his wife to a generator in Ogun State


Officers of the Ogun State Police Command, have arrested 37-year-old  Ifeanyi Ajaero,  for allegedly chaining his 28-year-old wife, Obiageli, to a generating set from nightfall till dawn, after she had been seriously battered.

According the State's Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the incident occurred at Ewooluwo Sagamu in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

Tanzanian police have killed four men suspected to be involved in the killing of eight police officers ambushed Thursday night in Rufiji District, 178 km south of the capital Dar es Salaam.

The Police Commissioner in charge of the investigation, Nsato Mssanzya said at a press conference on Friday that the four suspects were shot early Friday morning during a manhunt.

Mystery man pays N42m tithe to Benue church


A man whose identity has been shielded by a local church in Makurdi, has shocked church members with a tithe offering of N42 million.

Investigations by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi revealed that the money was paid into the UBA account of the NKST Church High Level  Makurdi.

Although the pastor of the church, Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, initially denied knowledge of the offering, a copy of the church’s quarterly financial report, covering the months of January – March, confirmed the payment of N42million tithe to the church.

The police in Lagos State are investigating the alleged killing of a youth by a mobile policeman on the premises of a hotel in Alimosho Area on Thursday.
The policeman, attached to Erico Belisima Hotel on Olowologbon Street along Akowonjo-Egbeda Road, allegedly shot and killed the youth, identified as Niyi.
The youth had gone to the hotel with some friends to locate one of the guests, who allegedly owed him some money.

Police Commissioner Abiodun Odude ,said Kudjo was arrested in his hideout in Ibadan after breaking into his employer’s apartment at Ikolaba in Ibadan to steal the money.
