He shot her three times in the back in front of other shoppers in Thailand

A soldier in Thailand was arrested after allegedly stalking his pregnant wife and shooting her dead in the middle of a supermarket after she asked for a divorce.

Sirinporn Chumboonchu, 40, split from her husband, Pichet, 41, earlier this month after learning that her spouse was having an affair with a mistress.

She fled their home in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, to stay with her family 400 miles northeast in the Udon Thani province.

But Pichet followed her, and is accused of shooting her three times in the back in front of shoppers at a local supermarket on Friday.

Upon following Sirinporn to Udon Thani, Pichet found her on Friday pushing a trolley at a Makro store around 2pm.
The soldier allegedly blasted his wife three times in the back because she refused to reconcile with him. She died later in hospital.

Pichet was shot in the chest during the incident by his own gun, but police believe he did not attempt to kill himself and that it jammed while he was letting off rounds.
Stray bullets also hit a seven-year-old boy, Kumpoon Poonitanitrat, in the foot and shop assistant Phothisawan Rudda, 32, in the chest.
The shop assistant is still in a critical condition at Udon Thani Hospital

Terrified witnesses described the ‘panic’ as Pichet opened fire with a 9mm automatic handgun in the packed store.
Tung Kottanasorn said: ‘Everybody screamed. Some ran away and some people laid on the floor.
‘There were people running over to the woman to try to save her and do chest pumps.
‘This was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. It was like an American movie. I though there was a robbery.’
Sirinporn was pronounced dead in hospital a short time after the shooting. Pichet is recovering from his own self-inflicted gun wound under police guard at the hospital.

Col Suchat Uthayo, Inspector of Udon Thani Provincial Police, said that the soldier had been arrested on suspicion of murder and carrying a firearm in public.

He said: ‘We will prosecute the husband for the deliberate killing of his wife and for carrying fire arms in public.

‘He was using a 9mm automatic weapon. The cause of the argument is that the wife discovered her husband had a “small” wife.

‘She did not want to reconcile with him. She wanted to stay with her family and she asked for a divorce.’
