Clichy and Navas to leave Man City as contracts expire

Manchester City have announced that Jesus Navas and Gael Clichy will both leave the club this summer when their contracts expire.
Clichy, who joined City from Arsenal in 2011, will depart the Etihad Stadium on June 30 after six years at the club, making 203 appearances while scoring three goals.

Navas, 31, will move on after four seasons, having made 77 starts in the Premier League, scoring four times.
Both players helped City win the Premier League title in 2013-14 and two League Cups, while Clichy also won the league title in 2011-12.
“It’s been a special six years for me at City,” Clichy told the club’s official website. “City director of football Txiki Begiristain added: “Gael has been an important player for this football club and I want to wish him well for the future. Since my first day here, he has been outstanding in the way he has applied himself, both in games and in training. He has been a key part in some special moments for this football club and for that he will always be remembered fondly.”
On Navas, Begiristain said: “Working with Jesus has been a pleasure. His hard work, dedication, professionalism and desire to win have been apparent every single day.
“He showed his versatility numerous times this season, operating at full-back and doing so with distinction. I wish him all the very best with his next move.”
Clichy and Navas are two of seven City players whose contracts expire this summer, alongside Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Willy Caballero, Bacary Sagna, and Tosin Adarabioyo.
City have already confirmed Zabaleta’s departure, while manager Pep Guardiola has said a decision on the other players’ futures will be revealed soon.win four major trophies and help establish the club as one of the top teams in English football has been an incredible journey that I’m proud to have been a part of. It’s amazing to see where the club is today and I am sure there is plenty more success to come.”
