Senate moves to probe Saraki over imported jeep


The Senate on Tuesday approved the probe of the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, over the alleged importation of a Jeep without paying Customs duty.
Saraki has been accused of failure to pay duties on the vehicle to the Nigeria Customs Service.

It was alleged that this accounted for why the Senate has ordered the Comtroller General of the NCS, Colonel Hameed Ali, to appear before it.
The decision to probe Saraki followed a Point of Order raised by Senator Ali Ndume at plenary on Tuesday.
And in a related development, the Senate also on Tuesday began investigation into the alleged certificate scandal against Senator Dino Melaye.An online media had on Monday reported that Melaye did not graduate from Ahamadu Bello University, Zaria, which he presented for his election.
The Senate’s decision was sequel to a Point of Order raised by Senator Ali Ndume.
Ndume came under Order 14/15 to present the issue to the Senate.
The Deputy Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the plenary, directed Melaye to present the document in contention to the Senate.
