Armed robbers numbering about six, on Tuesday, attacked some corps members serving at Community Secondary School, Amanuke in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The incident happened at about 2:00am on Tuesday night.
Daily Sun gathered that the criminals raped one of the female corps members, took their phones, laptop computers, electronic gadgets, cloths, and important documents. Other valuables lost to the hoodlums included wallets, undisclosed amount of money, credit cards, one international passport, necklaces, and others.

This was happening barely one week after criminals believed to be of the same group attacked for the second time, the vicar in charge of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in the same community, Canon Nehemiah Ugoagu and stole some of their valuables.
When our reporter visited the school, the corps members numbering about seven were in pensive mood. They were visibly saddened about the incident. A senior official of the NYSC in the council area barred the corps members from relieving their ordeal to our reporter. He said that NYSC law bars corps members from speaking to the press.
However, the Vice-Principal of the school, Mr. Christian Mogbo, confirmed the incident to Daily Sun.
Said he, “One of them was raped. All their belongings were robbed. The principal had gone to the police station in Mgbakwuto report the matter. They first overpowered our two watchmen and locked them up in one room. After robbing them, they took one female corps member away. They released her this morning” said Mogbo.
The President-General of the community, Mr. Nnamdi Maduka, told our reporter that already, some arrests have been made. He said that the community was making spirited effort to ensure that the perpetrators of the crime were brought to book even as he vowed that it would never happen again.
Meanwhile, all calls and text messages to the police spokesperson in the state, ASP Nkeiruka Nwode, were neither picked nor replied.
