Killers of DPO paraded by the police in Ibadan

Suspected killers of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), attached to the Agugu Police Division in Oyo State, Ikeokwu Nwogu, have been arrested and paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Muhammad Katsina.
The late DPO was murdered on April 1, 2015, at the Adekile area of Ibadan, during a reign of anarchy that reared its head in the aftermath of the alleged discovery of a kidnappers’ den in the area, a claim the police said was false.

Court Refuses To Stop Fayose’s Impeachment


Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and his deputy, Kolapo Olusola, have raced to a Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the 19 All Progressives Congress members of the state House of Assembly from impeaching them. But they met a brick wall as the judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, turned down their request and granted only the prayers contained in their ex parte application relating to the service of the court processes on the defendants. Fayose and Olusola, in the ex parte application, asked for an interim order stopping   the impeachment notice served on them and the moves to remove them from office.

Prophet TB Joshua Lays Curses On Zimbabweans For Spreading Lies Against Him


The pastor and the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet TB Joshua, has rained cuses on some Zimbabweans whom he claimed are spreading false rumuors about him.

The controversial pastor said on Thursday, April 8, 2015 that if the people did not desist from spreading lies against him, they would be utterly destroyed.

Zimbabwean media claimed that Joshua had predicted that three of their prominent preachers would die this year. The alleged prophecy was contained in a message delivered by TB Joshua in his church.

Rivers State Governor, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has taken a pot shot at the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Nyesom Wike, alleging that the PDP flag bearer can betray his biological mother for money.

Amaechi, who disclosed this at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt on Thursday, described Wike as a thug who was unfit to lead the state, but admitted that it would be the prerogative of the people to decide who they want to emerge as governor.

Cement manufacturers under the aegis of Cement Producers Association of Nigeria, have called on the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), to assist them in fighting corruption in the sector allegedly perpetrated by a cabal “that has been dictating cement policies for personal interests.”
In a tacit reference to popular businessman and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, they specifically pleaded with Buhari to assist in reducing the price of cement from N2,200 to N1,000 per bag.
This appeal when considered, CPAN said, will be the first dividend of change for Nigerians.

A Lagos trader, Samson Amaechi, has been dragged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, on two-count charges of unlawful attempted murder and unlawful causing of grievous harm, after he poured acid on his neighbour, one  Chukwuemeka Okorie.
According to the police prosecutor in the case, Feddy Asu, the 22-year-old Amaechi committed the offences at 9, Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute Meta, Lagos, where the duo lived, on March 27.

The trial of former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, who had been dragged to a Federal Capital Territory High Court by the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), over an N11 billion scam scam has been fixed for April 15, 2015.
The court presided over by Justice A.O Adeniyi, affirmed that the ex-governor and a former Director General of the Directorate of Rural Development in the state, Alfa Ibn Mustapha, should be presented in court on the said date for the trial to commence.

A weeping Gladys Omari is full of regrets.

For 32-year-old mother of three, Nwaokolo Gladys Omari, who was arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs to Spain, her only concern is that she would not see her children for a long time because of her arrest.
Omari, who was weeping profusely when she was paraded by the national Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), said that all she wanted was to make quick money and dash back home to her kids, but luck was against her.

No One Will Steal Under My Watch – Buhari


President-elect Muhammadu Buhari yesterday vowed to make judicious use of the nation’s resources, declaring that he will neither embezzle nor allow anyone to embezzle the country’s resources.

Buhari, who made the statement during a town hall meeting yesterday in Yola, said he would give priority attention to fighting corruption, insecurity and enhancing educational development, noting that most of the social ills bedevilling the country could be traced to dearth of education.

The Governor of Niger State, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has stated that those who have decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress because of the outcome of the presidential election were only after their stomach.
He said they were in the shackle of poverty of integrity, morality and principle.
The governor who was defeated in his senatorial bid last two weeks made this assertion while receiving a group of former local government chairmen in the state at his office Wednesday in Minna, the Niger State capital.
