Why I Owe Osun Workers 5 Months Salary – Governor Aregbesola


Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun on Wednesday opened up on his inability to pay the salaries of workers in the state for five months, blaming it on “declining federal allocation.”

The governor made the open confession at the 7th Bola Tinubu Colloquium organised to mark Tinubu’s 63rd birthday in Lagos.

He said he was deeply pained and unhappy that he had not been able to pay workers salaries.

Man bags four years jail term for raping neighbour

A 27 year old man Monday Michael who raped his neighbour at Gwagwa and threatened to kill her has been sentenced by an Abuja Upper Area Court in Jiwa, to four years imprisonment.
The suspect was arraigned by the Gwagwa Police Division on a five count charge of criminal trespass, house breaking, theft, rape and criminal intimidation contrary to Sections 342, 347, 288, 282, and 396 of the Penal Code.

Bloody day as robbers kill bank manager, seven others in Owo

It was a bloody day in ancient town of Owo kingdom, the headquarters of Owo local government area of Ondo State as robbers attacked four banks for hours this evening.
Numbering about seven, it was learnt that the bandits allegedly killed the manager of one of the banks, including seven others, while several were injured.
Sources alleged that when the robbers began their operation in the community, all the police at the various check points in the community disappeared.

Man in Kwara killed over N50 due

 

Suleiman Muritala, of Pampo village in the Afon area of Kwara State has been killed by a gang of hoodlums, headed by one Muri Ogbena.
Ogbena, a youth group chairman, and 20 other thugs, armed with cutlasses and sticks, reportedly stormed Muritala’s house to ask for a sum of N50 said to be the village due.
A confrontation followed when Muritala failed to pay up which led to the gang to descend on him with weapons.

Dead woman wakes up in mortuary, undertaker collapse

A 92-year-old woman who was pronounced clinically dead caused an undertaker so much fright when she woke up in the funeral home as she was being prepared for burial and asked the undertaker where she was.
The poor undertaker was so overtaken by fright that he promptly collapsed.

Mother arrested after bodies of two children are found inside freezer

A 35-year-old Detroit mother, has been arrested after the frozen bodies of a boy and girl were found in a deep freezer in the family's home, Daily Mail reports.
The police say that court officers found the children's bodies while carrying out an eviction order at the 3-bedroom home in the apartment complex just east of downtown.

Container crushes commercial bus in Lagos

                                                                                                                                                                            It was yet another tragedy in Lagos when a container fell off a trailer and smacked into commercial bus along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
But miraculously, there was no life lost. According to eyewitnesses, the trailer had a failed break and in a bid to control what would have been a monumental disaster, the container fell off and landed on the bus which was a complete write off.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

Ondo State Deputy Governor Dumps PDP for APC

Ondo state deputy governor Alhaji Alli Olanusi has decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
It would be recalled that Olanusi, 71, and the governor, Olusegun Mimiko defected to the PDP from Labour Party only last year but since their defection there’s been rancour between the existing PDP leaders in the state and Mimiko.

Pastor arrested for threatening homosexuals using book of Leviticus

A Christian preacher in Taunton has been found guilty of using “threatening” language by quoting the Bible when speaking about homosexuality on the streets in June last year.Former paratrooper Mike Overd, was convicted under section 5 of the Public Order Act, which concerns causing harassment, alarm or distress by using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.The judge at Bristol Crown Court told him that he should not have used the particular verse in the Bible – Leviticus 20:13 – because it uses the word “abomination”, Christian Today reports. 

Thugs attacks Police Minister in Osun

Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, was yesterday night attacked by peoples suspected to be thugs in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State.
The minister, who is also from the local government, was allegedly attacked when his house to house campaign train arrived Gbongan, where no fewer than ten members of the Peoples Democratic Party were severely injured.

President Jonathan Plans Trouble In Six States, APC Campaign Council Says

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has alerted Nigerians to what it called “a sinister and desperate plan” by the Federal Government to deliberately engineer trouble in six Nigerian states in order to avert imminent defeat in Saturday’s presidential election.
To that end, “100 trained saboteurs” have already been deployed to each of those states, the campaign said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon signed by Garba Shehu of its Directorate of Media and Publicity.

The Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign office has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission deliberately awarded contract for the production of the card reader machine to be used for the upcoming national election to a “fanatical” supporter of Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
The allegation was made by the spokesperson of the campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode, at a press conference Wednesday in Abuja.
