Nigeria political parties top world's most corrupt

Transparency International (TI)'s global corruption barometer shows that at least 94% of people in Nigeria think that the country's political parties are affected by corruption, making them (parties) the most corrupt in the world.
TI declared this in a graph that was published on its Twitter account on Thursday.

In the graph titled: "Where most people think political parties are corrupt" Nigeria appeared at the top with 94%, followed closely by Mexico and Cyprus with 91%. Spain was at the bottom, with 83%.

Nigeria's leading political parties are the Peoples Democratic Party, which is led by President Goodluck Johnathan and the All Progressives Congress (APC) whose presidential candidate in the upcoming elections is Muhammadu Buhari.
Meanwhile, in a statement on its website, TI also expressed concern over Nigeria's delayed elections, saying the postponement  undermined the country's democracy.

The organisation called on the government to ensure "not only safety for voters at the polls but that they go ahead without more delays".

The elections, which were scheduled to take place on 14 February were delayed by six week after the Independent Nigerian Electoral Commission (INEC) set the new date of 28 March.

Security concerns were cited as the main reason for the delay.
