Kola nut, I can't remember exactly, but is it not enough that it is the most symbolically Nigerian thing, across all ethnic lines? What are these? Collectively, they form part of a "bride price" – money and gifts given by a man's family to a woman's upon their marriage. At school in Nigeria, during Yoruba history class, we were told about women who attracted incredibly high bride prices, dependent on their attributes.

Diezani nominated as OPEC secretary-general

Iraqi Oil Minister, Abdelkarim al-Luaybi on Tuesday 10 June claimed that Nigeria had nominated Petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to succeed OPEC’s long-standing secretary-general Abdullah El-Badri.
Luaybi made the revelation in Vienna, home to Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) headquarters.

A South African woman who started prostituting from age 13 up to 19 for R50 (N760) has tested a HIV-positive, the Durban Regional Court heard on Monday. IOL.co.za reports that the 19-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is currently completing Grade 10 in South Africa.

NIGERIAN asylum seeker Aderonke Apata has taken the unprecedented step of sending a video of herself having sex to the Home Office to prove she is homosexual in a desperate attempt to avoid being deported.

Ms Apata, 47, is the subject of an ongoing battle against deportation as in April this year, campaigners collected over 230,000 signatures for a petition to Home Secretary Theresa May in a fight to stop her being returned to Nigeria. A gay rights activist, Ms Apata fled to the UK after she was arrested, tortured, and sentenced to death in Nigeria for being a lesbian.
